Last June Diving with Heroes visited Cozumel for the first time. After the trip, the DWH Board of Directors traveled to the mainland for some additional diving. Holed up in Playa del Carmen, they spent three days diving the cenotes, a freshwater cave system that is unique to Yucatán Mexico. It was amazing and we thought it would be an awesome experience to share with our divers.

 

This year, join DWH in Playa del Carmen Saturday, August 12, through Saturday, August 19. The trip includes: seven nights' accommodation, five days of diving, any course materials or certifications needed, and some additional fun. 

 

Participants must:

• Be Open Water certified;

• Provide their own equipment (or pay for their rentals); and

• Secure their own transportation to Cancun International Airport (CUN). All participants should arrive no later than 4 p.m. EST.

Returning alumni will be asked to pay a $500 participation fee.

 

Applications will be accepted for this summer excursion now through Monday, June 5. To apply, please send the following to DWH's Executive Director Jill Hottel:

• Completed participant packet (participant form, liability waiver, and medical questionnaire);

• Written Statement of Purpose briefly describing your scuba experience and how you benefit from scuba diving; 

• Copy of your DD214 (SSN redacted for privacy);

• Copy of your VA Ratings Letter (SSN redacted for privacy);

• Copy of your latest diver-level scuba certification card; and

• Copy of your active dive accident insurance (i.e., Divers Alert Network, DiveAssure).

Applicants will be notified by Friday, June 9, of their acceptance to the trip.
