Last August Diving with Heroes visited Singer Island/West Palm Beach for the first time. It was amazing. From diving with Pura Vida Divers up and down the coast to experiencing Blue Heron Bridge; seeing sharks and Goliath grouper and sea turtles galore; drifting over the wreck trail and floating 3 miles with the Gulf Stream in the dark of night on our first blackwater night dive...Florida offered us more than we ever could have hoped for. That's why we are going back!

 

This year join DWH on Singer Island Saturday, October 1, through Saturday, October 8. In addition to all the fun stuff we did last year, we will also be offering the SDI Rescue Diver course and DAN's Diving First Aid Pro course. The trip includes: course materials and certification, seven nights' accommodation, five days of diving, and breakfast and supper each day (alcohol is not included).

 

Participants must:

• Be AOW and EANx certified;

• Provide their own equipment (or pay for their rentals); and

• Secure their own transportation to South Florida (arrival by 4 p.m. on Saturday, October 1).

Returning alumni and non-beneficiary participants will be asked to pay a $500 participation fee.

 

Applications will be accepted for this fall excursion now through Friday, July 29. To apply, please send the following to DWH's Executive Director Jill Hottel:

• Completed participant packet (participant form, liability waiver, and medical questionnaire);

• Written Statement of Purpose briefly describing your scuba experience and how you benefit from scuba diving; 

• Copy of your DD214 (SSN redacted for privacy);

• Copy of your VA Ratings Letter (SSN redacted for privacy);

• Copy of your latest diver-level scuba certification card;

• Copy of your active dive accident insurance (i.e., Divers Alert Network, DiveAssure); and

• Copy of your COVID vaccination card (divers are NOT REQUIRED to be vaccinated, but we would like to know who may be vaccinated/unvaccinated on the trip).

Applicants will be notified by Friday, August 5, of their acceptance to the trip.
